In this set there is a moulded plastic travel case which features a built-in playing board with a non-slip surface uniquely designed to hold the special tiles which fit securely on the board.
 
There is no need for paper and pencil to score as there is an integral scoring device on the edge of the board for each player. All the contents can be safely and tidily stored away inside the moulded case.

Before we continue, a disclaimer: we do not, on any occasion, condone actual pensioner fighting. It leads to nothing but fuss and confusion for all participants.

Another gift idea for soldiers - handy little plants

Pet Plants are the latest craze to hit the UK. They are lots of fun to grow and an excellent way to remember loved ones.

There are four different Pet Plant species to adopt, each with its own characteristics. Pet Plants are linked to different oriental charms to make them the perfect gift for close family and friends. Choose between Strength, Happiness, Prosperity and Love.

Pet Plants are very cute and are loads of fun to care for. Just give them sunshine or office light and water occasionally and they will grow in their capsule. Treating your Pet Plant with TLC (Tender Love and Care) is the only requirement. Currently available here for just £4.95 each.  They cannot be delivered directly to a BFPO address by Prezzybox (they don't deliver to BFPO) but you may want to buy one and send it yourself, but you'll probably end up keeping it ;-)

Fun things to send to BFPO, over Christmas and beyond

We've received quite a bit of feedback on the type of things that are going down well on the various bases overseas at the moment - some of these games are pretty inexpensive and help the guys and girls while away the hours in the Land of the Sand and beyond.

The Racing Grannies game, available here, pits two wind up grannies (complete with zimmer frames) in a race against eachother.  This game is currently available for £7.99.

Along a similar theme, you might also like the Fighting Grandads (complete with lethal walking sticks) available for the same price here.

We also rather like these Rock Beat Drumsticks, available for £7.95. These ingenious electronic sticks represent a huge advance in the field of pretending to play the drums, as you don't need an accompanying drum kit to start knocking out a few funky (or just noisy) beats. That's because Rock Beat Drumsticks feature nifty built-in speakers that blast out a variety of drum sounds every time the rubber tips hit a surface or strike the air with anything more than a tap. Good as a bit of a stress reliever they are currently available here.

Good to see yet another mainstream online retailer clarifying the fact that they are able and willing to deliver to BFPO.  Visiting Firebox via this link here will take you directly to their BFPO delivery information page; and they are delivering to BFPO for £3.95 per order.

They have a pretty huge range of gadgets and boys toys, so you have the option of having stuff sent to yourself in the UK or, size permitting, sent directly to a BFPO address.  They also seem to deliver to most places worldwide.

Ideas for things to put in goody boxes to BFPO

Hawkins do not deliver to BFPO addresses directly, but they have a huge range of small toys, gadgets and gizmos that would be just perfect for a Christmas stocking or care package to a BFPO address.

They stock lots of handheld puzzles, miniature board games and that type of thing.  You can spend an awfully long time browing through all their toys.

  We rather like these Christmas Crap Trumps, available here for £7.99.

A reverse twist on the Trumps card game concept, each aspect of Christmas is compared by factors such as 'effort', 'embarrassment' and 'enjoyment' to come up with an overall crap factor. Sprouts score a resounding 96% crap rating compared to snowball fights at only 8%. The ideal distraction when festive fatigue sets in; or to pass a little time in the land of the sand!

Another idea is this Mini Putting Practice game, currently available for £5.99 here. Some Gifts & Gadgets to Send

Been having a look around at some gadgets worth sending. Browsing through just about every product on the Firebox website I came up with these three goodies:

1: Crap Trumps -   Top Trumps are a classic boredom buster and are also pretty cheap.  I liked the Crap Trumps because they are just like Top Trumps, only better!

The cards seem pretty funny and can of course be used to play a real game of trumps and while away some time. The cards focus on things like 52 of the most rubbish cars in history: from souped-up heaps (as favoured by track suited oiks) to hilariously misguided conceptual follies like the Sinclair C5. There are even a few unroadworthy rustbuckets such as the donkey-drawn lorry and the OMFG (think about it), which is essentially a kid's pedal car.

Classic Top Trumps are also available and include Football Stars, Warships, Litte Britain and lots more themes.

2: Namco 5-in-1 Arcade Classics - Includes 5 classic games on the one joystick.  Games featured include Pacman and Galaxian.  You just need to plug the console into a TV to play.

3: Plug 'n' Play Cricket - Again just needs to plug into a telly.  At just under £40.00 this is quite a bit more expensive than my other suggestions, but it looks like great fun.

Whether you buy stuff from Firebox yourself or have the items delivered direct to the BFPO recipient is up to you.  In the T&C's of their website they do promise to deliver to BFPO addresses - I've pasted the relevant paragraph below:
